This week RipSaw Robotics has a short practice schedule, as we had no school on Monday. Our goals include:
finishing pit designs and the bumpers for the robot
submitting the Impact Award application
visiting elementary schools for a robot reveal (Friday)
finishing drive team tests
the second session of our STEAM Camp!
We also had the first session of our STEAM Camp last Wednesday! Everything went amazing and the people who attended had a great time meeting the team and the robot. We cannot wait for the next session on Wednesday! At this one, we will be showing the FIRST Robotics introduction, along with a game involving bridge mechanics and supporting weight. Kids attending the camp will also learn how to use the heat press on their 7797 RipSaw Robotics STEAM Camp shirts!
Our final senior spotlight is Emmet Prosen! Emmet has been on the team for 3 years, and his favorite robotics memory is "making three different battery carts in one week." Emmet is an undecided major and plans on attending St. Scholastica after high school and his favorite song is Going to California by Led Zeppelin. #MeetTheTeam
We are ONE WEEK AWAY from Week Zero in Irondale! We are beyond excited and are definitely prepared for the 5:30 am departure...You can watch our live stream through this link, live on Saturday: https://youtube.com/live/HzqGKjLf8m4. Week Zero is important to our team because it helps us prepare for competition and gives us an opportunity to see how our robot runs. We have drive tests for this reason, to give team members an opportunity to test out their coordination skills and see how difficult it might be to manage a robot!
We also have human-player tests, because there is a part of the game that requires a human from the team to throw a note (like a frisbee) onto a part of the Crescendo course. This requires much coordination, along with determination to help our team score as many points (or notes) as possible!
See you next week,
7797 RipSaw Robotics
